My first hand experience with racism
It’s never cool when you’re family emotionally, mentally, and threatens to also physically abuse you, all because of who you are dating.
Some info about my boyfriend:
• Always smiling
• Knows how to cheer anyone up
• Buys me things
• Plays with my hair
• Constantly reminds me about how much he loves me/how beautiful I am
• Loves to call me his baby
• Graduated high school with a 4.2 GPA
• Made it into the honors society in his university
• Loves animals just as much as me
• Great dancerBUT none of that matters, since he’s black.
That’s how life is with racist parents. My soulmate has dark skin, and I do not, and because of that my parents are against us ever being together. I have been threatened, my boyfriend has been threatened, and we constantly live in anxiety in attempt to be accepted by my family. But I am fed up.
Family shouldn’t dislike with someone just because of the color of their skin. They should dislike someone because of the content of their character.
I am tired. I am annoyed. I am fed up. I am angry. Love shouldn’t be dictated by color. It’s 2016, get it together world.
